Channels > eBay > Listing Options Tab Overview
After going through the initial eBay setup, the first thing you will need to do is create listing options. Listing options are the template your items will follow when posting to ebay, and it determines things like shipping methods, prices, and other important details.
To create eBay Listing options, go to Channels > eBay > Listing Options Tab in the admin.
Click "Create new options"
Under "Options Name", give the listing option a title that will help you identify it (e.g. "Magic Singles" or "Yugioh Singles Above $5.00").
Step 1: eBay Categories
In the Primary Category ID field, type in the name of the category this listing will be used for. This will bring up several options of matching eBay category names. Click on the one you want, and the category ID number will populate the field.
The Second Category ID isn't necessary, and we rarely see it used.
Step 2. Listing Options
You'll notice parts of the listing option that refer to auctions or eBay store. The listing option can be used for either listing types. When using it to list items to your store, it will ignore all auction-specific preferences and vice versa.
For Auctions:
set the starting price of the auction. you can either make it a fixed price or a % of your sell price
set the buy it now price. According to eBay's rule, this must be 30% higher than the starting price
set the reserve price
set auction duration
set listing type (you will most likely leave this as "Lot")
For eBay Store:
set Listing price. This is a percentage of your sell price. You can also add a fixed amount for all eBay listings using this template. For example, some store have seen success setting the fixed amount to $.50 or $1.00, and then making the shipping free.
set the Duration. Good 'til Canceled store listings will repost automatically after the 30 days is up. ALl the other options will come down from eBay after the allotted time
Shipping:
choose if you want to use eBay's calculated rates, or set a flat rate for each option. Under the Service column, use the dropdown menu to select which shipping methods to offer. Click on the "Additional shipping option" button to make multiple shipping methods available.
If you checked the "flat rate" box, then you can set the shipping price here too. The "Additional Item Price" is how much additional shipping will be charged if the customer buys more than one of a particular product.
Return Policy:
Make sure to set "Returns Accepted" to "True". eBay will return an error if you attempt to post listings and this is set to "False".
Step 3. Title Format
Here, you will set how your listing title will be for both auctions and eBay Store listings, using the available tags. You want to make sure to use enough tags to make it very clear what the product is, but not too much so that eBay cuts off the name.
Some examples:
Magic the Gathering singles: "{quantity}x {variants} {product_name} - {category_name}". You want to include the variants tag in case you list multiple conditions of the same card. You want the category name tag included because there are a lot of reprints in Magic, and it prevents eBay from thinking that listings for two different editions of Birds of Paradise are the same.
Yugioh singles: "{Quantity}x {variants} {product_name}". You don't need the category name tag, since we include the card number in our product titles
You can also include key words like "MTG", "Yugioh", "YGO", or "Magic" in the title format to help with search visibility on eBay. You'll want to put these key words at the end of the title format. Since they aren't as important as the specific product info, you want them to be the words that get cut off first if the title reaches eBay's character limit.
Step 4. Specific Info Template
Just make sure a character is entered into this field (so that the listing options can be saved) and move on to step 5. For a more detailed explanation, see below:
The specific info template used to be the only way to get the {product_description} and {variant_info} tag into the template in step 5. We have since added these tags directly to step 5, which basically means the specific info template is totally obsolete. Basically, whatever you have entered into the specific info field will show up wherever the {specific_info} tag is used in step 5. It just isn't necessary, since you can just put that info directly into step 5 anyway.
Step 5. Auction Template
This is where you can design what the main content area of your eBay listing will look like. There are several tags that you can use for different aspects of the product you may want to display. There is also an html button in the editor if you are comfortable designing your template in html. You can also submit a small design request to have someone on our design team create a custom eBay template for you.
Once you are done with Step 5, click "Create Options". Now you can go start creating listings, or there is one more options step:
(Optional) Final Step: Assign Default Template
Under the "Defaults" section on the right side of the page is your category tree. If you click on a category, it will bring up a dropdown for your listing options, and it will allow you to set a default listing option to that category. This will make it so that you don't have to manually choose a listing option every time you create a listing.
