I am losing money shipping out very small orders. How can I enforce a minimum order amount when checking out on my website?

If you would like to enforce a minimum order amount on your online website, our system can be setup to accommodate that via the creative usage of the Coupon system.

First, we are going to edit each of your available shipping methods and add a Fixed Fee to the shipping method. Navigate to the Account => Shipping Methods section of the admin, and then click on a shipping option to edit it. In the Fixed Fee field, enter in the exact amount that you want to enforce as your minimum. In this case, I have applied a fixed fee of $2.00.  Repeat this process for each of your available shipping options except In-Store Pickup (since these orders are not shipped out, the order minimum is not needed).

Now that the fixed fee has been applied to your shipping options, we are going to setup a coupon to remove the fixed fee automatically when the order meets or exceeds the minimum amount.

Navigate over to the Advertising => Coupons section of the admin, and then click on New Coupon. Here, we are going to set up a coupon with the following parameters:

The coupon will auto-apply at checkout. It will allow the coupon if the cart meets or exceeds the minimum order amount of $2.00. The reward will be a fixed discount on the order of $2.00. Make sure to not specify a redemption limit or any other options. Be sure to click save when finished!
