Update to Games Workshop Online Retailing Policies

Starting 3 May 2017 direct Trade Accounts of Games Workshop, and retailers purchasing from Authorized Distributors will be able to sell Games Workshop products through webstores, third party portals, and auction sites (at an instant purchase price only). These sales will be governed by the following requirements:

  • All Retailers are required to have a bricks and mortar store which displays and sells Products that fulfills Games Workshop’s “In Store Requirements”.

  • Any online sales channel is required to fulfill Games Workshop’s Online Store Requirements.

  • No images or text taken from Games Workshop’s websites may be used by any online sales channel with the exception of the authorized imagery as provided by Games Workshop.

  • Rewards under the Trade Account Stockist Program must be used by and only for the benefit of a retail store. Rewards cannot be used for the benefit of any online sales channel.

CrystalCommerce changes to accommodate Games Workshop Online Retailing

Previously the CrystalCommerce catalog contained a few Games Workshop (online only) and Games Workshop (P.O.S. only) product types/categories. Prior to 3 May 2017 this was necessary due to the restrictions for selling Games Workshop products online. Due to the recent change with Games Workshop’s Online Retailing policy, CrystalCommerce will be deprecating our Games Workshop (online only) product types/categories and will have one dedicated product type/category for each Games Workshop product type/category.

List of Product Types/Categories to be deprecated:

  • Games Workshop (online only)

  • Games Workshop Specialist Games (online only)

  • The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game (online only)

  • Warhammer (online only)

  • Warhammer 40,000 (online only)

  • Warhammer Age of Sigmar (Online only)

List of Product Types/Categories to be changed:

  • Games Workshop (P.O.S. only) -> Games Workshop

  • Games Workshop Specialist Games (P.O.S. only) -> Games Workshop Specialist Games

  • The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game (P.O.S. only) -> The Lord of The Rings Strategy Battle Game

  • Warhammer (P.O.S. only) -> Warhammer

  • Warhammer 40,000 (P.O.S. only) -> Warhammer 40,000

  • Warhammer Age of Sigmar (P.O.S. only) -> Warhammer Age of Sigmar

What does this mean for an existing CrystalCommerce user?

Due to Games Workshop’s previous online retailing policy the products inside the (online only) categories should have never had quantity or price associated to them. However, the product names for the (online only) and (P.O.S. only) are identical, and utilizing the “Mass Create” feature in the admin will be a quick and easy way to migrate existing quantity and/or price to the new dedicated Games Workshop categories. Once you have all the data exported from the (online only) categories, we high recommend deleting these categories to avoid confusion down the road.
