While importing new products into the admin, you may have noticed this error message:

As product lines are updated, new descriptors need to be added into those products. A good example of this was the inclusion of colorless mana in Magic: The Gathering.

Now that we understand how the process works, let's make it simpler!

To add the missing descriptor information automatically, we will need to head over to the Import tab. Once here, select the products that you want to import into the category with the product type that needs to be updated. In the final step of the import, instead of importing them into an existing category we are going to import them into a -new- sub-category:

This will cause any and all missing descriptor info to be added into the product type without you needing to add them in manually!
